Voter ID disenfranchises minorities? Really?

The liberal mantra in opposing requiring voters to show identification at the polls in order to vote is that such a requirement discriminates against minorities. I heard a Democrat consultant give the party line yesterday; minorities don't have transportation to get to DMV offices; they can't afford the cost of obtaining an ID; many can't come up with the required supporting paperwork; besides if there is voter fraud, which he said there isn't, we can find it and prosecute after the fact. Oh my, your world must be blissful, there's so much ignorance.

We've documented on these pages the hypocrisy in those statements; photo ID's are required to get into the Department of Justice offices, the Democrat National Convention, to buy alcohol and so on. This pundit said that those situations are different because voting is a right and these previous situations don't involve potentially denying someone a right. Hmm. Getting in to the DOJ in an attempt to redress wrongs is not a right? Having your say at the DNC is not free speech? I could go on but won't since piling on is not nice.

But let's take a look at President Obama's amnesty program for illegal aliens. Guess what you have to show to obtain a work permit or whatever he's calling it this week: documentation that you've been in this country and attending school; a birth certificate from your home country; proof that you don't have a criminal record. If these minorities can obtain a birth certificate from a country they most likely have not been to since they were 1 or 2 years old, I think they can get the documentation to obtain a photo ID, which most likely requires a birth certificate and proof of residency.

About that "let's prosecute them afterwards" if there's voter fraud. If I show up and say I'm Eric Holder and you figure out I'm not (which has happened, no not me but someone has done that, it's documented) how are you going to find me to prosecute me? What information do you have as to my real identity? And which ballot are you going to nullify? How do you know for whom I voted or which way I voted on initiatives? Yeah, lets wait until after the fact.

Once again the left is just pandering to the base instincts of a demographic, creating fear of discrimination where none really exists. If there is a group that can't get a photo ID, why is it just minorities? Red necks may not be able to get the pick up started and out of the trailer park...
